What is AFF? |
AFF was established in 1996 at Niihama City of Ehime Perfecture as a citizen's organization to support NGO volunteer activities, Mr. and Mrs. Morikawa's private volunteer activity developed into this organization.
Now, it is acting as a grass-root volunteer group on the spot centering on South Afrikan area, and supporting women and children of the third world.
Our policy of support is not to send goods and money one-sidedly but basically to go to the spot and deliver supplies in person, so that we can efficiently provide truly needed supplies.
To the timeless adage by Lao Tzu, "Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day, But taech him how to fish and you feed him for a life time."
We have recognized it is important to avoid furthering the local people's dependence on support as much as possible, and try to encourage self-reliance and independence, by providing supports suitable to the situations of the local community.
